Projection of slides
Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp

A series of slides [accompanied by a book] alternatingly shows portraits of a woman and questions. They refer to the trial the English held against the historical-mythical figure of the French heroine Joan of Arc. Du mentir-faux attests to Torfs’ fascination for the historical-mythical figure, but also for the impossibility of knowing the truth about her. Du mentir-faux makes an image of the tension between fact and fiction.
